384 Well plate guide

Background: ELISAs and enzyme assays are typically done in a 96 well plate. Using a 384 well plate (= 4x96 well plates) can improve throughput (handle more samples at same time) and reduce amount of reagents used.

The problem: The wells in a 384 well plate are much smaller than wells from a 96 well plate. Keeping track of where you are in the plate is difficult and lots of concentration is required (especially if you are using black plates like I am)

The solution: Create a plate guide that can divide the 384 well plate into manageable sections based on 4x quadrants (which equates to a 96 well plate). This will allow easy and simplified tracking of where you are in the 384 well plate

We have designed 2 formats of plate guides for 384 well plates:

  • 4X4 where each quadrant/96 well is divided into 4
  • 6x4 where each quadrant/96 well is divided into 6 = This is my preferred format and is easy on my brain
